St. Peter’s School is a part of the Eastern School District, whose main offices are in St. John's. St. Peter's currently has an enrolment of 248 students and offers grades Kindergarten through Grade 9. The average class size is 22.5 students. The school serves the communities of Bishop’s Cove, Bryant’s Cove and Upper Island Cove. Approximately 91% of students are bussed to school on a daily basis. Although its name dates back to the time when there was a denominational school system in Newfoundland and Labrador, and schools were run by various churches, today it is a public school. St. Peter’s School has a total of 16 full time and 2 part-time educational staff which includes 14 classroom teachers, 2 non-categorical special education teachers, and specialist teachers in the areas of guidance, music, physical education, technology and learning resources.In addition to staff based at the school, there are itinerant services for speech-language pathology, hearing impairment, visual impairment, and education psychology. There is also 1 student assistant unit.
